JadePlay uses drama, play, discussion and child-led exploration to help children develop confidence, communication, empathy and positive decision-making. There is no pressure to perform. Children can participate in different ways, contribute at their own pace and gradually become more confident within the group.
Rather than telling children what the “right” answer is, JadePlay gives them opportunities to act out and observe real-life scenarios, explore different choices and possible outcomes, and think about how their actions may affect themselves and others.
Meet & Greet → Drama Games → Child-Led Activities & Role-Play → Reflect & Share
Sessions begin by helping children feel comfortable and connected. Through drama games, discussion and child-led activities, children explore ideas and real-life situations together. Each session ends with an opportunity to reflect, share and recognise what they have discovered.
Start — Building safety, confidence and belonging
Children get to know JadePlay, their facilitator and one another. Early activities focus on feeling safe, becoming comfortable participating and recognising that there is not always one “correct” answer.
Middle — Exploring choices, consequences and responsibility
As children become more comfortable, they take greater ownership of activities and explore richer real-life scenarios. They consider different perspectives, emotions, relationships and choices, and think about possible outcomes and personal responsibility. Children can suggest ideas, change scenarios and help shape where the activity goes.
End — Reflection, ownership and carrying learning forward
As the programme develops, children are given more opportunities to lead, create their own scenarios and revisit ideas they explored earlier. They can recognise how their confidence, communication and thinking have developed and reflect on how what they have discovered through JadePlay could help them beyond the sessions.
JadePlay encourages mixed-age participation because children can learn, support and guide one another. Different ages can bring different experiences, perspectives and strengths to the group.
A child may need support in one moment and be the person helping or guiding someone else in another. JadePlay gives children opportunities to experience both.
