JadePlay gives children a welcoming and creative space to build confidence, communicate, explore ideas and learn alongside other children through drama, play and real-life scenarios.
Your child does not need to be confident, outgoing or have any previous drama experience to take part. Children are encouraged to participate in ways that feel comfortable for them, with opportunities to become more involved as their confidence grows.
Children take part in drama games, discussions, role-play and child-led activities. They may explore everyday situations, act out different choices, consider what might happen next and hear how other children see the same situation.
The emphasis is not on putting on a performance. JadePlay uses drama and play as tools to help children communicate, think, explore and learn together.
JadePlay encourages mixed-age groups so children have opportunities to learn from, support and guide one another.
Children of different ages bring different experiences, perspectives and strengths. A child might learn from someone else in one activity and have the opportunity to help or guide another child in the next. Every child has something valuable to contribute.
Children do not have to be the loudest person in the room to have a voice at JadePlay. Some children may want to join in straight away, while others may prefer to watch, listen or take smaller steps at first.
Facilitators encourage participation without putting children under unnecessary pressure. The aim is to help each child feel safe, included and increasingly confident to contribute in their own way.
Children’s safety and wellbeing are central to JadePlay. Sessions are designed to provide a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where children feel listened to and supported.
JadePlay is developing clear safeguarding, risk assessment and session procedures for each delivery setting, and works with partner venues to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place before sessions begin.
JadePlay is designed for primary-school-aged children, with mixed-age participation encouraged.
Children do not need previous drama experience or a particular level of confidence to take part. Activities can be adapted to suit the ages, abilities and needs of the children attending, with the aim of making participation meaningful and inclusive.
